Default Ran w/o oil

I found a warrior engine for cheap that was ran w/o oil. The shop says the valves and cam are destroyed but what are the chances that the bottom end is still ok? Seems if the system was starved for oil that the top end would be the first to go but can the bearings in the bottom end run very long w/o oil?

Depends on how long it was ran, if they shut it off when the top end started to freeze up then the bottom end might be ok, but if pooped out a half mile down the road and they drive it all the way home you're going to be replacing a lot of parts.
