Default 2004 Sportsman 600 Clutch question

Hi I have 2004 600 sportsman it seems when the clutch grabs @1600 rpm it is not a very smooth transition. Is there something specific i should be looking for? My friend has the same machine and it seems to be much smoother... I do not know much about how these clutches works so any advice would be apppreciated
Thanks in advance!!
Jim

Any noise coming from the clutch? Stock parts? Get the clutch cover off and take a peek in there.

Thanks for the reply drlang. I had the cover off last week as I blew my first belt in two years. To me everything looked clean and was moving in and out but again i don't know what i'm looking for.. As far as |I know everything is stock, I bought the machine second hand.

Did it do this before the new belt? What color is the spring?

Spring color and weight size for starters. Also check the space between belt and the sheaves, look how high the belt is riding in the secondary sheaves too. Grab the primary clutch and see if there is any play.
