Looking to buy? Don't be fooled by dealer price scams!

I thought I would give out some info I have gained in recent weeks. All of the local dealers around here are asking way more than MSRP on every quad they have in stock, and getting it easily I might add.
So far, the closest to MSRP I have found on any Honda is $200 above. I have mentioned many times before that 400EX's go for $6,299 plus the extras and taxes here. Sadly, people buy them so fast the can't keep them in stock, even with the Raptor out now.
In recent weeks I have been checking out an ad from a classified paper that has ads from several dealers in the western part of the state. This one Honda dealer has great advetised prices on different models each week. Here are this weeks...
TRX400EX - $4,999 Sportrax
TRX300EX - $4,499 Sportrax
TRX250EX - $3,699 Sportrax
TRX500FA1 - $6,399 Rubicon
TRX450SY - $5,687 Foreman
TRX450S1 - $5,667 Foreman
TRX400FW1 - $5,399 Foreman
TRX350FE1 - $4,999 Rancher
TRX350FM1 - $4,799 Rancher
TRX350TE1 - $4,199 Rancher
TRX350TM1 - $3,999 Rancher
TRX250 - $3,299 Recon
TRX90 - $2,599 Sportrax
From $100 to $712 "UNDER" MSRP???? Don't be fooled!!!!!
Also, judging from what I know about the area where this dealer is located, If they can do it in such a low demand area, so can ALL the others. Just my 2 cents!!!!!!

If you are able to it really does pay to shop a little. When I was looking to buy I had trouble finding any one that was even at MSRP. Most of the used quads were priced at MSRP of new ones! This was shocking to say the least. I finally found one 600 below list at the dealer closest to me. The only reason I can think of why used ones go for so much is the lack of change from year to year. But knowing how hard most people ride why would you want to pay within a couple hundred bucks of new to buy used.

I live in the metro Atlanta area and all the dealers around here are getting full MSRP plus ripoff add ons like assembly charges on Rancher ES models. Saturday I traveled to Anniston, Alabama on the advice of a friend to BAMA MOTORSPORTS. What a great experience! I purchased a red (it had to be red!) 2001 Rancher 4X4 ES for drive out including sales tax for $5133.97. No haggling, no hassles, just immediate bottom line. To heck with a certain large multi-line dealership in Marietta and the other one in Douglasville. I hope y'all go under.

Greetings,
I've bought two quads from M&S Cycle in Chambersburg, PA. Both times they came down nicely from list without being asked and both times they threw in a helmet. Suffice to say, they've won my loyalty. I make it a point to get everything I can from them and even do some Christmas shopping there (the neighbors just love that Harley brand coffee). Amazing how other businesses don't see the long term value in treating people right.

Basic economics. If a certain model is selling well then the dealer has no incentive to drop the price. If he does it won't be by much. The Ranchers are selling well most dealers a asking full MSRP & getting it. They know that if you don't buy it then someone else will.
There are no shortages of 400EX up here, Raptors on the other hand are hard to come by.

I'll tell you what, I shopped around a long time before I found a good deal on my 400ex. I live in the Phoenix Az. area and I must have hit every dealer they all wanted 6899 out the door. The 400ex started at 5699 but after the tax and lic., dock fee and yes, even a set up fee it came to 6899. Then I found this place Arizona Honda of Tuscon they wanted 5750 out the door, Now that was back in 99 when they first came out.
Now they are asking 5550 out the door for the 2001 model. it pays to shop around.
