Default **HELP** NO AWD in LOW RANGE

I have been reading forums and doing research all day!!!!!! I must say this is by far the BEST forum that I have come across, bar-none!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2002 Sportsman 400 that has always worked flawlessly. I normally run in HIGH range but recently I have had to use LOW range on a regular basis and I'm having problems in low range with the AWD.

AWD works fine in HIGH range and in REVERSE but if I shift to LOW range the front wheels do NOT pull, NO AWD.

My instrument cluster is the old style with lights for oil, hot, reverse, and neutral. When in LOW range the neutral light is lit and NO AWD. I don't care what light is lit but LOW range without front wheels pulling, for me, is like **** on a boar hog.

Anyone have any ideas where to start or how to fix this issue.

Thanks in advance for any and everyones help.

sounds like the transmission gear indicator switch is out of alignment. your shifter may need to be adjusted to get it working right or the switch needs to be messed with.

Default **HELP** NO AWD in LOW RANGE

Finally figured something out. My ATV has two transmision indicator switches, one for high-netraul-reverse and one for low range. On the low range switch are three wires (green, blue, white). I disconnected the switch and wired the green and white wires together. I now have AWD in low range. However, I no longer have a green neutral light. I can live without the green neutral light as an offset to having AWD in low range.

Cheep work around to the problem.
