My son and I purchased our first quad this weekend...a 2002 Suzuki Eiger 400 2WD with automatic transmission, a new battery, and a set of Carlisle swamp pro tires. It had 511 miles on it and except for the normal scratches, bumps, etc. this machine appears to be in pretty good shape. When I checked the oil, it was brand new, it looked like it had just been changed. It starts and runs great. The brakes, lights, etc. all work good too.

We were sort of looking for a 4WD machine, but I think this machine will do everything we want with those swamp pro tires. Maybe we'll add a winch just in case.

We've put 10 or 12 miles on it just running around the house and like I said earlier in my post, everything appears to work great.

I'll pull the air filter out and clean or replace it. Should we check anything else before we take it on a longer trip?

Congrats on the new quad! IMO you should check all the fluids and look for loose nuts while you're at it. It has less miles on it than most people ride in a single year so I don't think anything is worn out.
