I have honestly never seen such a thing.....
The only thing I can guess is because its a straight axle quad they use those to prevent getting high centered in ruts... but that is just a guess.

forgot to add this in the original post...
My guess is they are used for deep water kinda like paddle boats use paddles.... but only for a little more propulsion.
OR maybe for extra grab on the mud that the tires are pushing off to the sides

They look like they'd be great for launching sticks and mud at your buddies riding behind you! LMAO! Look....it's a redneck paddleboat! LOL!
Seriously, though, I don't think they are wide enough to do anything, but I would sure enjoy watching someone run them! LOL!

Correct me if I am wrong, but that is a Honda Rancher. Those tires are huge for that machine.
Also the previous pic in that folder has a paddle on just one side. Still baffled!!
