Default what do these paddle like thingies do?

its called an axle paddled they're used to used to get through mud, water and rutted areas

They're so a SRA quad can go through deep ruts left by a IRS quad. I was just kidding with the stump grinder comment.

i take it you boys have never been muddin in the south and im pretty sure thats a trx300 not a rancher

they are used to overcome the natural disadvantage of the straight axle and it's inherent low ground clearance in the deep stuff...they add a LOT of live weight and suck up a ton of HP!

But damn, they throw a helluva roost!
