Default Help buying a new 2008 Honda Rubicon

I'm in the market for an '08 Rubicon. (Jacksonville, FL) I've never bought a new ATV before. I've negotiated deals on numerous vehicles though. Normally, I go to sites like Edmunds/Carsdirect, etc. to determine the actual dealer cost for a vehicle.

How do you negotiate the best price for an ATV? What on-line resources do you use to determine dealer cost? How do you find out about factory incentives for ATV's?

Just trying to be an informed buyer and not donate too much of my hard earned dollars to the dealer. Any feedback on your new purchase experience or techniques would be apprecaited!

There's a dealer down in Tenn, I think, that seems to be a price leader. You will probably hit on them looking at atvtrader.

Depending on your area, though, you might not be able to do as well (I offered a local dealer the same $$$ for the same new bike, and they turned me down).

Happy shopping.

Now is a good time to be looking for an 08 Rubicon. I bought my 07 about this time last year. My best advice for you is to find as many dealers as you can, and pit them against each other. Being in a decent sized town, you should have local access to a few. When I bought mine, I wet to about 4 different dealers in about a 60 miles radius from the house. Eventually I found the dealership with the best out the door price.

Now, just to be clear, when dealing with ATV's what you want to hear is the "Out the Door Price". Some dealers will give you a quote, and that quote won't include things like assembly, they will try to sneak in extra charges above and beyond what they told you. You can find MSRP (manufacturers suggested price) on the Honda website, start with that price, and see what you can haggle. Right now, you are in control of the purchase. The economy sucks, not many people are buying what is essentially a glorified toy. And more importantly, if you are looking for an 08, they are getting incentives to get them off the lot so they can make room for 09s.

I did a quick search and found a bunch of dealers in driving distance to Jacksonville. http://powersports.honda.com/d...search.aspx?zip=32099

That page has phone numbers too. I would suggest calling first, asking for their Out the Door Price on an 08, and see whos got the best deal.

Good luck.
