2001 Raotor wont start!!
#1
My 2001 raptor wont turn over, when i take the spark plug out it does turn over slowly but when i put it back in it doesnt turn over at all... I've replaced the starter clutch.. checked out the decompression mechanism.. all checks out. The last time i drove it i could push start it the it backfired and didnt want to start at all. I have a spark issue also but i want to figure out why it doesnt turn over???

sounds like u might need a starter or battery, dont know if ur raptor has 1 but mine has rev box, and if battery isnt fully charged it back fires and wont start, but urs turns over slowly, check battery and starter first, if its the starter most starter shops will rebuild them for about 20 bucks

my starter bearing went out on mine once i kept cranking it, after i put new bearing in mine had no spark, the ground wire that bolts to starter cover on the shifter side of quad burnt into, my yamaha shop told me i cranked it too much, check that wire on ur spark

Hey well first off when i start it i use a battery charger so that should put out plenty of juice to turn it over. Would the starter turn over slower if it was half dead ? Also when yours turns over is it fairly quick to turn over or slow? thanks

Whatever you do, stop trying to oush start it. If you have a bent valve or the valve is to tight, you will cost yourself more money in the long run. I had the same exact issues you are having, resulting in bent intake valves. It would backfire, I had intermittent spark...something to check into.
