I would like to know how the frames are on the 250r. I know all frames are going to crack here and there after some extreme jumping, but where are the 250r frames known to crack. And if you weld them will they hold up pretty well. And overall are they a pretty sturdy frame.

 

I have heard they crack around the swingarm bolt, steering stem, around the seat latch, and sometimes the motor mounts I have no experience w/welding them or how it will hold up.

 

We used our '87 250R for motocross racing and our biggest problem areas were by the swing-arm bolt, the front seat supports, and up by the steering stem area. Also, by the head stay, and the swingarm. We gussetted the areas when we welded them and never really had another problem. When welded and gussetted correctly, I would say they do hold up fairly well. Plus, as time goes on, you learn to be a smoother rider!
