Default 1994 Polaris 300 4X4

I have a 94 300 4x4 and the AWD is not working. I have jacked the wheeler up and spun the back tires and the front axles spin but the tires dont? but I noticed that the AWD light does not work. Im not sure if its a bulb issue or battery issue? I just charged the battery and put it back in, when i turn the key lights come on and the fan spins but as soon as i hit start it just sounds like the the starter is just not going and then the lights dim and fan slows, but when i let go of the start button lights brighten and fan spins back to normal so not sure if its a battery or starter? One last thing i have noticed that when i put the wheeler in high or low that the nuetral light on the dash stays on like its not fully in gear what could be the problem with that and would that have anything to do with the AWD?
Thanks Josh

Check battery voltage with a multi meter, should be 12.5 volts if bat. is good, you need power to make awd work,With machine running at a high idle should have 14-15volts if charging correctly. The nuetral light may be out of adjustment, need to get machine running to see if tranny and awd work properly.

Ok I took it all apart and there is power going to the AWD switch and inside the hubs are just fine. I tired adjusting the shifter to see if the nuetral light would go off when in gear but i could not adjust anymore or it would not stay in gear. When i took it out for a spin the AWD still would not work in High or Low but when i put it in reverse and used the override the AWD would work except for the front left so im going to check for a loose wire for that but now what to i do about the Neutral light becasue i know if that stays on it wont allow the AWD to kick in
