Default kodiak 450

I have a 2003 kodiak 450. My Battery shorted out causing alot of the wiring to get hot and melt insulation and melt wires together. Changed the battery and continued to use it for the summer. Now in the winter I decided to fix it. Pulled all the wires apart taped and heat shrunk all damaged wires, all seems good but now when I put it in reverse it just sputters and will barely move. Forward works fine. Anybody got any suggestions cause I've hit a wall.

Does it have a reverse override switch? I believe they are limited in speed while in reverse. Maybe somehow the reverse limiter is kicking in at all speeds while in reverse.

That's exactly what it feels like. Do you know were the reverse override switch is? And is there a way to by pass it totally?

On my 450 there is a button near the starter button that is the front diff lockout limiter override button. I don't think it also overrides the reverse limiter. I do believe that there is a limiter for reverse to keep you from going 40mph in reverse. Exactly how it limits the reverse speed I don't know. Look around online. Some of the shop manuals are available for download. You might get some info if you can find one.
