Kazuma 50cc start problem
#1
I tried to jump my sons quad earlier this winter and after a few unsucessful attempts the engine just stopped turning over all together even with a jump. All I hear now is a soft click when I try to electric start. any ideas on where to start troubleshooting??
Lights work, alarm works...............
thanks,

Sounds like starter is stuck or burnt. If stuck you can try to tap the starter. Thats TAP not HAMMER. If it does not free up, then I would consider taking starter off motor, and testing it, if gear does not ingauge (or spin), then consider replacing starter.

Follow the heavy red wire from the battery positive terminal to the starter solenoid. This device has two heavy wires bolted to it - the one from the battery which you just followed, and another going to the starter motor. Take a screwdriver and short those two terminal posts together with the screwdriver shank (don't worry about a few minor sparks, its OK). Does the starter crank?
If so the starter solenoid is bad. If not then turn on the ignition and turn on the headlights. They light up, right? You said they work. Now short across the solenoid terminals again while watching the headlights. Do the headlights stay lit? Do they go completely out? Report back and we can go from there.
