Hey guy's.. I'm getting ready to pull my motor tonight for a ring job.it's been over 8 1/2 years.Does anyone know how to bypass decompression valve,or what ever it is? I've checked it without allready n reading bout 90 pounds with W.O.T .I just ordered manual, but gona take a few days to get it.Any help would be appreciated..I'm very curious what it actually is.

theres a level on the cam that opens up the decomp valve when u start it, i'd say that 90 is about right for compression, is there ne reason for replacing rings, if ur in there u could put an 11:1 piston in there from aaen performance, not too much $$$

90 psi on a 500 with decompression is correct , but I have no clue to what the compression is without the decompression and my manual does not mention it anywhere. Even if the ATV was suppose to be 180 psi and it had bad rings that that put it to 120 psi you would never know because its still going to read 90 psi no matter what with the decompression working.

Thanks guy's.. It still runs great, feels like it would pull tires off ground with plow on, but i have some time n figure i would tear it down and atleast put new rings in it.I ran 10w40 in it for a few years, even in winter.I had never heard of the cam going bad from thicker oil.Now i run mobil one.I'm thinking bout beefn it up with cam, piston n rings, head job, etc. A little pricey thou. The one company claims 10 more horse, thats bout same as 700..That would be nice!! you ever tried wiseco piston n rings?
