I was wondering.... for the $1000 price difference. I am looking for a sporty quad. I weigh in at roughly 213.231 us pounds. Blue eyes. I want the zap to pull the front end up and also downshift and kick my back out. I rode a Suzuki LT230 Quadsport in the early '90s, but/and was a lot lighter then.

Also, where would I start to look to find a used quad to avoid the price gap? Papers or Bike Shops?

Get the 400ex for sure, it is worth the extra money. Don't buy a used one from a dealer, go to the paper, or cycletrader.com........ go to search adn find your bike!

PS) the "blue eyes" was not needed!

it's simple...

the 400 has better suspension and power

but the 300 cost's less and has reverse

it's your choice...

its up to you.

The 300ex is always gonna be the better trail quad. The 400ex is gonna be the better MX and jumping quad, not always though. Stock for stock yes.

My advice, go buy a used 300ex that you can get for around 3 grand. Put another 2 grand it. And you will be running over stock and modded 400exs like nothing.

Or you could have a lot of money? go buy an 00 and do those mods like i did.

The 300ex will bring the front end up through 3rd by gassing it. The 400ex will do that till 4th.

But since you have a blue eyes..i'm gonna say get a 300ex

I see your point. I have been trying to hunt down a used quad. It is difficult in the Pensacola FL area. What kind of improvement in performance could I expect with some of these mods. Also, what amount of money. Also, what mod first (cost/benefit ratio)?

I have been out of the loop for a couple (10ish) years. Could you tell. I also forgot to mention that I am 6ft... Does that conteract the blue eyes decision?

Faraday, check out cycle trader online, you should be able to find a really good deal on a 400ex. I have the 300ex, and my hubby has the 400ex, he wouldn't trade his quad for anything in the world. It handles great on the trails, he has never had a problem whipping thru the trees. Also, the suspension on the 400 is much better. And as big as you are, you would feel cramped on a 300. Besides, why fork over that much more money to mod out a 300 when you can pay the same for a great 400 that already has the power you need, without all the work!? Oh... and does blue eyes have anything to do with the way you ride? Cause I have blue eyes too, and I am always hitting things, like trees and stuff... So ya better be carefull!

00 400ex (his)
01 300ex (found in cycle trader for only $3500)

My opinion is... the bigger the better. Better to have the power and not need it than to need it and not have it. You got a great deal on your quad. How far did you have to go to get it? I found that in cycletrader.com my travel would be about 6 hours. And so far, no great deals like yours. I'll just keep a looking, if I find a 300Ex first though, I will probably cave in.
also...checked out your pix. nice.

I had to travel to south Ohio, near the Kentucky border. It was about a 7 hour drive one way in a rain storm. But, believe me, it was well worth it. The guy had not gone thru a tank of gas yet. He bought the quad on an impulse and discovered he needed a 4x4. It's a great quad too. It took me several weeks of looking everyday to find mine. You just have to be vigilant, you will find one.
Goodluck, and let me know what you get?!
Vrooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Went to New Orleans and picked up a 99 Warrior. In the process of tearing it down now. I like to make it all mine that way.
