Default 1995 xplorer 400 has low gear only..help

I need some help with a 1995 xplorer 400 4x4..it has low gear only no high..Just wondering what could be the problem...one guy told me the trans is bad....how can I know for sure........please help

Common problem, you could try adjusting the linkage. Most likely the shifting fork for hi isn't being held in all the way, (wear). I have fixed one yet, but need to. AARRGGHH

check linkage for sure. maybe even unhook it and try shifting by hand to see if it works. if it works then the linkage is the issue. just an idea.

on some models if you look at the linkage there are adjusting nuts to loosen or tighten the linkage.

Oh ok. Ive got a 94 400 and it sometimes pops outta gear so i was going to adjsut the linkage and was wondering how. I guess tightening it would make it stay in? Sorry to hijack the thread sbp lol

I had a 2000 Polaris magnum 325 2x4 and when I bought it I thought the gear shifters needed adjustment but it turned out to be the gears in the transmission had bean striped out but low and reverse worked fine hear is a pic.
the cost for this gear was abought $200 and I did all the work.
