Hour Meter
#1
Since my rancher doesn't have a gauge cluster I'd like to install an hour meter to keep up with maintenance. I'd like to hear from others who have done this to find out what type meter was used, where I can get one, cost, and any installation tips.
Thanks in advance,

Go to your Briggs & Stratton (or similar lawnmower, etc.) dealer; buy a "Tiny Tach," you get a tachometer/hour meter you can screw onto your plastic; no connection whatsoever except looping a pickup wire around your spark plug cable.

Cabelas has the tiny tach their price might be a little high. Their web site is www.cabelas.com
Not sure if Rocky mountain atv has them or not.

I bought a Tiny Tach back in 97 and paid close to $50 for it. Later I noticed a very similar device in the lawn mower departments at Sears and Wal-Mart for half that price.
The battery in my Tiny Tach is still working today. However, I will need to tear it apart and hope that I can reseal it once I need to replace it. Could not tell you if the units at Sears and Wal-Mart are made so that you can replace the battery.
