My right side rear diff keeps leaking...2006 sportsman 700 .I changed out the old seal with a new polaris seal and now it still leaks. I dont know if this is normal but the right cylinder looking black thing that was so hard to pull out is not as flush as the left one. it comes out about a quarter inch. What would cause that to not be flush? Since the first day i bought it new it has always been like that so I didnt think much of it then but i cant help but think that this is not allowing proper compression on the seal.....Please help

 

I have the same issue and have not found anyone to HELP me soooo I'm going to just keep putting fluid in mine until further notice because I don't want to throw money at it if it's not going to fix it!!!!!! Please let me know if you find out something that works!!!!! ANd I will let you know if I find a fix...

 

2 things I can think of. 1- wore bearings. 2- burr/rough place on cv axle that contacts seal.

 

sounds like something is worn or out of round not allowing it to seal correctly.

 

Thanks for the input....I Just bought a 2006 sportsman 700 and I'm trying to get the fluids right. I have a 2001 325 TrailBoss since 2005 that I've run thru the ringer with NO problems what so ever....Awesome 4wheeler. What kinda fluid does the front and rear diff take and what engine oil for the 700? I've heard soooo many stories on what's best til the point I really don't know what's right.

 

if you have th owners manual it's the best thing to go by. if nothing else, make sure you use the proper fluid for the front diff. and don't try to cheap it out and buy other brands. the oil you could use like mobil 1 0-40 and be fine.
