Default sportsman XP skid plates / rock sliders / cv boot covers

I wanted to set up a thread that would have a good listing of underside protection for the XP's. This can be the place for questions if any one has any, pictures posted, links to fav. items.

I want to add some protection to the belly of my 550XP, I saw these on ebay:
Here is a link to some "nerf bars" or rock sliders on ebay: eBay Motors: polaris sportsman nerf bars 2005 to 2008 and 2009 xp (item 280340845183 end time May-08-09 16:25:34 PDT).
I wanted to see if anyone has tried anything like this? The edge of the xp floorboards seem very flimsy

Here's a link to Ricochet's ultimate skid plate: ATV Outfitters: 2009 Polaris Sportsman 550 / 850 XP ULTIMATE Skid Set

Any experience with these?

I would love for anyone who has added protection to post up with reviews and pictures

Thanks

Is it a pain to install them? They must need a solid mount to the quad...how do they usually attach?

Gotta figure it will take hours.....regardless of what they say. But it does look like a sweet package and worth the work. It's just a matter of; is the $500 worth it over what's on the machine now. You can just dump cash hand over fist on these things.

I bought the full set from Richochet for my 850 after they were first introduced. I had to redrill holes in the rear arm guards to fit. The front boot guard didn't come with the right parts and the holes were drilled in the wrong place. I had to cut a hole in the bellypan as the hole for the drainplug was not in the right place and the drain plug couldn't be removed. Ricochet did send me the parts to install the front guards fairly quickly. Hopefully, they have worked the kinks out. Because of the modifications that had to be made, the entire process took about six hours.

Default Nerf Bars

I have had a set of nerf bars from that seller on two of my 800sp's. They work great, are easy to install, and offer great protection.

They probably made the design off a pre-production model. Changes were made to the XP before it was released to the public. Seen a pre-release demo at my dealer and the front suspension geometry is noticeably different.

I'm sure they have it right by now. The units have been flying off the shelves around here.
