Wolverine 450 Mild Upgrades
#1
Hey, I have a 2007 Wolverine 450, I have ordered a 2in lift and 2 in spacers, I figure if I'm gonna lift it might as well widen it to keep the handling fairly familiar... Anyways, I wanted to get into more serious mods, I have a K&N filter on the way for a start,
I was looking at EPI clutch kits for miy bike and was curious, is it really worth it, speed really isn't my concern being that the fastest you'll ever go where me and my buddies race is about 40 mph, but I really want to capitalize on the Wolvy's already awesome acceleration and beef up the low end so I can pop wheelies, so would the EPI be the way to go?
And I notice a lot of you Wolverine guys have dyno kits... do these make a huge difference and what are they geared for: Lowend, Midrange, or Topend?
Oh yeah and the GYTR pipe is coming too.
Thanks for your input.

Just curious, where did you get your lift kit? Also, you should probably think about getting a full skit plate skit. The flimsy plastic protecting your expensive undercarriage is a joke and will only end up in bad damage if something is hit.

Highlifter has a lot of kits available for almost every bike even some for 250 2x4s. Heres the page where I ordered mine High Lifter ATV Products & Accessories - 2" ATV Lift Kit - Yamaha 350/400/450 (see applications) its a kit for a 00-05 Kodiak 450. The wolverine 450's borrow the kodiak 400-450(non-irs) frame and swingarm design, I checked the Yamaha OEM parts for both vehicles and the frames LOOK exactally identical. So, I'm banking on that slim fact, that the kit will fit, lol we'll find out, I'll post pics when it gets here. 2006 is when the Kodiak 450 became the "Grizzly 450" and adopted the IRS rear end. The 06-09 Wolverine and '05 Kodiak are identical as far as frames go, except the Wolverine is nearly 80 lbs lighter and revs a helluva lot quicker, and of course there were major suspension/tire/wheel changes, and seating position arrangements, minus racks and locking front diff's. I was skeptical when I bought my wolverine, cause it didn't have front lockers, but now that I've rode it through and over everything, I've realized the little beast doesn't really need them.

Yeah, I was going to paint the kit myself when it got here, actually I'm painting the whole bike, it's going to be two-tone, I hate blue! The dealership was sold out of the Black, Grey, and White models so I go tthe blue. The front to about mid-bike will be a muddy/sandy brown color, and then forom there it will fade into black. The stock silver rims will be black too, I've already painted the rad gaurd black to test the adhesiveness and look of the paint and it looks great - But the painting will be on hold till it warms up here, I live in Alaska and it's only in the 30's in the region I live in.
