01 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO weep hole leaking

Default 01 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO weep hole leaking

Anyone have any tips to get to the weep hole on the water pump ? Do I need to pull the motor out ?

The weep hole should be on the right side of motor near bottom. There have been many instances of this. I have been through a few. It is due to the mechanical seal leaking inside. Some have changed theirselves but if you bend the shaft then the motor has to come apart. Do a search for weep and should find lots of discussion on it.

If you damage the counter balancer/water pump shaft,THEN the motor will have to be pulled out! About as cheap (about 2 hrs labor plus seal in most cases to let dealer do it) than to buy the tool which is about the same price,Plus cooling system has to be thoroughly bled to get all air out OR will overheat!
