I'm new to the site, and of course my first post is a question. I bought my 2000 warrior new and this thing has been great, but by the end of last year you could tell she needed a new clutch. I started putting it in the other night and not sure if i have it set right.
The replacement is an EBC (DCM 33 or something like that). I have a factory manual and a haynes and followed both of them as i was dis-re-assembling everything. All the plates and discs' are where they are supposed to be (double checked this). But when I tighten the springs, they have to compress almost completely till my torque wrench ticks. At this point I can press the center pin and bearing back in.
My question, at this point there is no play (no movement back and forth) of any of the discs. Is this done right, with the springs compressed this much? I lightly put the cover on and snugged the bolts up to try the lever action as it pushes on the pin and bearing assembly. it is solid and doesn't move.
Thanks for any help. I just got some 20" ITPs to replace the stock rear tires and am dying to get it out!

 

on my clutch it pulls on that pin to compess the springswitch would let the disk move freely. are you sure you didnt put to many disks in? it only takes one to many.

 

I checked the disc count and it is what the manual says.

 

Is it the same as what you removed? Also the aftermarket clutchs can be a bit more thicker than the stock ones. EBC and Tusk seem to be the worst ones for that. You may try to run one old friction disk in the middle of the pack to see if that helps.
