Default Couple of questions about a Barossa 250 twin

Hello.

Lars from Norway speaking. Have just got myself a 2004 Barossa Quarterback 250. I have been told they are the same as SMC/Kasea quads. And that it has a Honda licensed engine?

I just got it, and wanted to change the oil before i set off.

What is the oil capacity on this engine? And wich oil should i use?
Also how do i read the oil gauge pin? It has a blank field, and a "riffled" field? Where should the oil be?

It is a 2006/2007 model engine with twin carbs on it and a oil cooler in front, as it has been changed by the previous owner.

Sorry for my bad english.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum RMK700!

I use 10w-40 oil in all my Chinese quads, most hold around 1 qt. You want the oil level to be in the riffled area....You want to check it without screwing the cap in.

1 qt = about 1 litre?

I filled 1 litre, and got no oil on the oil gauge pin. Filled about 2 litres, and got in the middle off the "riffled" field on the pin. (The riffled is the upper field on the pin.)

Does it take more oil since it has a oil cooler? Or have i filled to much?
When i drained the old oil it seemed to be about 2 litres on it.

My mistake...yes 2 qts for the twin with the oil cooler...Now that you have it in the riffled section..run it for a few minutes. turn it off, wait about a minute and check it again...

Your Welcome...

Main thing is to make all the bolts are tight....wheels are pointed straight...brakes work...I like to loctite (blue) all of the smaller bolts that hold on plastic, small brackets etc...

Have got myself a Service manual for the bike. Can e-mail if anyone interested. It says to change oil each 1000 km.

Is there a oil filter that need to be cleaned? And how often?

Anyone know the name/spec of the headlight bulb?
