Default Spittin and sputter??????

My 2008 arctic cat 700 LE acts up when I go through about 6 to 8 inches of water at speeds of 8 to 12 miles an hour. As soon as I want to get on the thottle after a little water it wants to spit and sputter and some times back fire. Any guesses?

Only two things I could think of are one, an electrical short either at a connection or where a wire has rubbed through.

Two, an air leak in the intake which sucks in water and can cause issues with the engine.

Hope that helps. I am leaning towards an electrical short. Try getting a tube of Dielectric grease at an auto parts store and putting it on every connection you can find under the machine including the spark plug cap. See if that works for you.
