i have a 04 sportsman 500ho yesterday my fuel gauge started acting up it flickers on and off and off you tap on the right side it will come on till you hit a bump then going down the road it comes on and off does neone have any ideas ? thanks

 

take the front fender off to get access to the fuel tank. im not shure where the fuel level sensor is in that yr. but the 08s are on the right side by the shift lever. and the 08s have 6 screws holding it in the tank. take the sensor out and check it. but first befor you go though all the work of taking the sensor out. check the connections. then take the sensor out and check it. thats my thoughts. but i do know if i unplug my fuel sensor it will shut the fuel level gauge off on the speedo. but im not shure how the older ones work.

 

Mine did that a few times on my 04.5 sp 500. never did it again though. let me know what you find out.
