Axle upgrade project gone bad.........
#1
2002 polaris 700 project.
Well, added 2" lift (super atv)to bike and ran a while.
Added 2" forward a arms (super atv) to fit bigger tires. First trip out busted both front cv's. It appeared that the total lift/a arms caused the front shafts to pull out of the cages and then beat them to nothing.
Was told that upgrading to 05+ axles was the common cure(being 1" longer).
Purchased 2 new 05 axles, then found out I needed new hubs, purchased those as well.
Go to do the install and find that the axles will not fit. The slide into the front diff, but the strut will not mount to the other end of the cv. The cv will not reach that distance, the angle is too step on the shaft. It bottoms out on the inner cv.
It looks as if there was no 2" lift it may work, May not really even sure.
Was told,"OH, you also have to run 05+ a arms."
Holding everything in place by hand, there is no possible way that the diff a arms will make up the diff for the axle to fit.
Has anyone done this swap??? I am at my witts end with this project. I am siriously considering selling off all parts and selling this rig for something more mod friendly. And I hate to because I really like this bike.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been fighting this for the last month and our outting we had planned for the last few months is this sat.
