Default 1997 xplorer 300 water/sealing

well i just picked one up for 1k. runs great original owner yada yada.

Now the issue im having is deep water. i sealed the pull start, sealed the intake, and yet water still gets in there, dont know from where. i have to reach under the atv and pul the small 10mm drain plug, ad it takes forever to drain. any ideas on how to avoid this?

The only thing i can think of is leaving the drain plug out while rideing. that way as it fills it can drain at the same time.

weird.. some guy with a trailblazer has the same problem.. how deep are you guys goin.. you cant be go in a lake without a snorkel kit... try to seal the pvt cover better or check it for cracks if this is was your talking about... also check all your connectors if you did snorkel it... (what did you seal your intake with??) you didnt block airflow right?

There is one place that can leak on Polaris if you do a search on the subject.

The two holes the the secondary and primary shafts go through on the belt housing back plate have a silicon seal that can let go alowing water to get in.

The Fix is to take the two pulleys off and back plate and reseal them with new silicon.

If its a belt drive yes. the final drive of chain or shaft does not matter they just run off the tranny.

Ok I will take a look at that and see. Is there a certain way of doing this? Or do I just look from the back? Or dose the tranny cover have to come off?

Seal #1 or #29 will be the problem, apparently you do not buy news seals but just have to resit them with new silicon.

To get at the you take the belt cover and both clutches off.

Cheak the connections #12 #4 and #17 first they are easier to get at to see if they may be the problem.
