Sorry can help there,never had a chain drive before. Do a search on this site, you may have the same set up as a Scramber and Explorer.

you have to loosen the bolts that hold the tow hitch on. if you look at the center piece that the axles come out of on the left side there is an adjuster. it has three holes for a spanner wrench in almost a triangle shape turn it to the front of the machine to tighten. if no spanner wrench put a pipe wrench on the bottom side and pull upwards. when tightened make sure the two bolts on the hitch are as tight as you can get them without stripping.

i have a 96 explorer 4x4 i dont know how to tighten the chain is it the same by any chance
