pics - picked em up yesterday!
Only drove them a block and up a few small hills - but they are AWESOME. EPS was absolutely worth the extra $ - and compared to the 550 the 850 sounds like a big block when starting up - but glad I got both - doing the break in thing so, taking it easy on them.
The 16' x 77" trailer worked out perfect - the rear gate is the way to go! Paid $1150 for it
One question - the manual says not to go in water any deeper than the floor (foot) boards - do you need to do any modifications - snorkels etc - to go deeper?

You don't want to short out the stator or starter, or shatter the spark plugs on the trail.

Generally, I haven't had any troubles as long as I know where the belt cooling tube tops off and where the air intake tube is. Swallow water in those and at least you'll have to drain the belt housing and dry the belt.

You'll be ok in water up to the clutch housing intake and exhaust openings without any mods. Be advised though the clutch housing intake is like a vacuum cleaner at moderate to higher RPMs...it PULLS the air in pretty strongly..
Pull the seat off and you can see where those 2 are..
The engine intake is a little higher...just beneath the plastic forward of the seat..where the gas filler was on older Sportsmans.

My advice on any new machine is to not baby it and don't idle it too long, but let them warm up a minute or so by driving slower. After that, drive it hard. If you don't, you'll have a pooch of an 850. The belt may need a little breaking in also, so don't do wide open launches for a little while.
Most of the problems you read on the forums are owner mistakes, whether it's atv's themselves and/or parts/accessories.
