Are there any options that don't cost $300 (at the dealer)?

i guess all i really need is the motor but they sell the whole assembly

What is the outside diameter of the fan housing?. I've read the Sportsman has a 10" fan.
Measure the outside diameter, the distance between the fan and engine, and make note of your mount points.

I would then search auto junkyards, ebay, and anywhere else I could think of, before I'd pay $300.00.

check the spal fans website.....get the mfg # off of your fan....
