Question Can you put reverse on 99-04 400ex's?

Hi,

I have a 2003 400ex and I can't handle not having reverse. I was thinking about selling it for a new 400ex, but I think the 400ex has virtually been unchanged except for the addition of reverse. So, is it possible to somehow add reverse to the old 400ex's, and if it is, how difficult is it to do?

I don't beleave so. You could buy a newer engine from a 05 and up but that would cost to much. I would sale or trade for a newer one.

if you can you can get the bottom end of a 05 and up 400ex engine and add your good top end and you have reverse. don't forget about the reverse engagement switch or the new bottom end you could just use a piece of chain to hold that in the engaged position all the time so you don't have to turn that *** all the time. its easy i did it to my 300ex.
