Default 08 polaris front brush guard/bumper issue with winch

well i got a brand new front bumper/brush guard. fits great. paid total of $88 for it. but as i thought and was worryed about when i got it was this winter when im gona plow snow with it i may have to remove the bumper not a big deal. but would like some thoughts on what i can do. the winch cable will rub on the middle cross member. thus scraching up the paint. i was either thinking:
of A: finding a stainless sheet and riviting to the cross memer to prevent scratching.
or B: make a roller and mount it to the top of the cross member so the cable will roll over the bumper.
or C: either useing rop and tie it to the plows left and right pivit point on either side of the springs. then hook the winch to that.

any one have issues? thoughts?

and here are pics of it:

i love the bumper tho. i just need to find 2 more led stars and mount them to the bumper on the sides just in front of the low beam headlights.

The first year I had mine I took a piece of pvc pipe with the same id as the crossmember and cut it the length as the crossmember...Then I cut out a section lengthwise less than half the diameter so it would "snap" onto the crossmember...Thus allowing the cable to rub against the pvc.....I have also taken the bumper off which takes onle a couple minutes also...No big deal.....Have you had the plow mounted along with the bumper yet? In my case I actually run my line between the two crossmembers and it doesn't touch either one.......It depends on where your mount is on your plow frame....Let us know how you make out......

I would go with the pvc pipe so you don't have to drill into that nice red brush guard dude. Another ? is how far down does that checker plate go? I hope your not covering the intake for your rad, looks cool anyway.

yup. i mounted the plow to check it. there is no room between the plow and the plastic bumper. i forgot to take pics when i had it on. i will next time. iv also tryed to mount it where the center spring is. but still not far enough away from the cross member. iv got a few other ideas i will try. see if anything works. but if other have ideas let me know. if i can get it a bit farther away the plastic pipe may work for just winter.

Hey chuck, I have a peice of ABS pipe on mine, since it is black, but I think I'd rivet on the piece of stainless, I think that would look better than the roller, I saw a guy on here a while ago with one, but with the red bumper, I think it would look a little goofy

As an after thought, since you have steel cable, with the pvc or abs, the cable would eventually wear through, so IMO I'd either switch to synthetic for good, or get a short piece of synthetic to use in the winter when your plowin

ya i was thinking stainless. i was also thinking about useing threaded rod. a piece for each side of the center spring.

I tie wrap a piece of stainless shim stock to the tube, and take it off in the summer. I use a short synthetic rope for plowing,it does not hurt the rope.

Just a thought but you could extend your roller farield out so that it will clear. From the looks of the photos you could still keep it inside the brush guard and just space it out enough to use the plow. I don't think it would effect the winch use but time would tell on that.
