check the resistor pack. look under the seat. if you follow the wires from the right side gear switch wires the will end up under the seat and under the air box. there is 6 wires comeing out of it light gauge wires. check to see if there is water inside of the resistor pack. if there is it could be screwing up the reading that the speedo has to read to tell what gear ur in. if anything go into the speedo dicnostic mode and read the ohm readings. shift into a gear and wright down the reading. if the manuel wont tell you i can. if there right its the speedo.

'09?--Is it still under warranty?

If so, let the dealer/Polaris fix it. The warranty cost is built-in to the price, so you paid for it.

Its just a digital display, never thought they ever belonged on a ATV, a Cadillac or airliner maybe yes.

Worry when it really does not go into low or high for real. If you need to read a display to known what gear your in,how much gas you have, when your in AWD or when to change your oil then your in the wrong sport.LOL

If I rolled a ATV and smashed the whole display right off I would no even spend the money to replace it I would just say " Well it was pretty while it lasted"

My wifes 500 did the same thing when it was new. The dealer put in new rotary switch, etc, etc and nothing seemed to work. I finally traced the wires starting at the rotary switch, and the heat shield under the seat had rubbed a VERY SMALL spot across two of the wires. The wires where shorting out on the shield causing the gear indicator to read wrong. We put on a new harness and routed it differently, and wala....problem solved.

Hey TLC, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the display had to be functional for the AWD to operate properly. I thought it was all sorta tied together. I know when the wifes bike was acting up the display would show neutral and she would be in low, and the AWD wouldn't work because it thought it was in neutral....

Yes, I forgot, the speedo has to work for the operation of the AWD.
