Default Battery Question ??? RE: Battery Trender

I just bought a new battery for my 06 Raptor 700 and went on one riding trip. I came home and put on my batter tender due to the fact the guy at the dealer told me to keep it on when I'm not riding. This was about two weeks ago and today I went to start the quad and my battery was dead... Is this because of the battery tender for what ever reason? and should I always keep the battery tender on the battery? even during summer months???

Thanks in advance

Was the battery fully charged when you bought it?. Did you charge it before installing it?.

A battery tender does not charge a battery. It only maintains a battery. Unless it says that it is both a charger and maintainer. Which do you have?.

You will probably have to charge the battery with a 2-3 amp trickle charger over night, then the battery tender will keep it charged.

The battery was fully charged when i put it in. All i have is the tender to keep it charged. Do you keep a tender on the battery at all times when your not riding?

Start with the simple stuff...was the battery tender plugged in?
Most have a LED that glows when the power is on and the battery cables are on the correct terminal (+ to +; - to -).

That is just a preference. You certainly could keep the tender on all the time, but that is really your call.

Now...I do NOT own a tender, but have a BatteryMINDER. When I use mine, I disconnect the battery from the ATV. But I only use it when I do not plan on using the ATV for 4 wks or more. If less than that...I just don't worry.

Hope this helps...
