Default Drum brakes suck!

New to riding, pick up an older timberwolf that keeps up with the big boys cuz its so lite. When i go into water or mud the brakes go a way. Not just a little, i mean they are gone. About turned it over a few times. Is it the water and mud or do i need to change anything. Allready changed everything but the drums and cables. Any advice would help, thanks.

That's pretty much to be expected from water filled Drums. mine do it too, so i don't ride any deeper than tire sidewall deep in water anymore. Like yourself,.... I nearly dumped myself several times and I just can't go there.... I'm too old to knock myself around too much. And by the way,.... my Drum brakes are all I've got, and they're on the front only. so when they finally do catch, they try and throw me over the bars if I'm not paying attention.

My drum brakes don't suck,.... they blow.
