Looking for an ATV Safety Course???
#1
Hi All!
My husband and I have been extremely frustrated with trying to find an ATV Safety course for our 10 yr old daughter. In our area, we can't find a course. We called who we were supposed to call, emailed who we were supposed to email. Unfortuneately, we were either going in circles or got no response from anyone. Imagine that! lol
My husband came by a site that give an online course for free!
It is www.rideatvoregon.org. You can take the test as many times as you like for free! The card should be good for any state too. Anyone who wants to ride in Oregon by the year 2014 must have an ATV Safety education card... FYI for those of you who are interested.

Some states have them online, just take the test and you pass.
Or the next best thing to do is look for clubs in the your area, and see what they have to offer.
Alot of them give them for free.

Some states do have online tests, yes it's true. Our state, however, does not. Where we live (in a small town in northern NM) there are no clubs either. My husband even talked to the guy who owns the Honda Motorsports dealership in our area, and he said he has been trying for a long time to get someone from the state to come to our area to teach a course. My husband is seriously considering becoming certified as a trainer because of the situation. It is a mess here. I just thought that if anyone was in the same situation, this would help them.

Contact the American ATV Association. They are providing age-specific online training courses, and can give you info on their rider training classes (on your atv or an atv provided by the instructor).
Here is a link and a phone number:
"Take an ATV RiderCourse; Call Toll-Free at 800.887.2887, or go to www.atvsafety.org."
I took the rider training course several months ago, and really enjoyed it. Not only was the course free, Suzuki sent me a $50 check a few weeks after completing the class.

I called the American ATV Association and they were no help. I even checked the box on the paperwork I signed when I bought my four wheelers that I was interested in an ATV Safety course. When they contacted me, they told me there were no classes available in my area. I had them extend the search for 150 miles (the nearest big town for us is Albuquerque and that far away) and there was still nothing available. I went to my states website, tried to contact the contact person by phone (left a few messages) and also by email with no response. We even talked to the local Honda Motorsports dealer as all our ATV's are Honda's.
Now if you re-read my original post, I was trying to give some information, not ask for a solution although I appreciate your trying to help. How do you think a person living in New Mexico came across a course in Oregon??? I am trying to help others. I'm sure we are not the only family out there (although from the responses I have received suggest otherwise) that is having an issue finding a course to get enrolled in. Please take it as information. Thank you.
