Default grizzly 700 jumps outta gear

when i have my grizz in either park or neutral and i hit the start switch, it tries to turn over then jumps into reverse (at least the indication on the dash shows it's switching into reverse). if i hold down the start switch it'll eventually start up but it's just kinda annoying and probably wearing my starter out pretty fast. anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Have you adjusted the shifter linkage to the transmission?.

Pull plastic on tranny side.
Disconnect linkage.
With key on, shift tranny by hand until neutral shows on pod. Verify by rolling quad. Turn key off.
Move shift lever to neutral.
Reconnect linkage, adjust out slack, verify solid engagement for each gear.
Lubricate linkage.
Replace plastic.

If still having problems, take to dealer.

thats what i thought at first too, but it jumps up to reverse when in park, and down to reverse when in neutral. if it were the linkage, wouldn't it jump up to high when in neutral?

If adjusting the linkage doesn't fix it, I would suspect the shifter fork in the transmission is the culprit.

Unless you know how to fix it, (I don't), take it to the dealer or qualified repair shop.
