Default 2004 sportsman 500 H.O. overheating problems

I have an 04 sportsman 500 H.O. and its overheating. The fan stuck on and it ran the bat. down, so I recharged it and it no longer comes on, the hot indicator comes on on the dash. When I take the rad. cap off it isn't circulating, so I took the thermostat out and still nothing. Then I took the waterpump cover off to check the impeller and everything looks ok, it even turns when the bike is running. Is there a fan switch somewhere? Should I see the coolant circulating?

sounds like you got a bad ecm. there is a recall for around your year model. some have caused fires from shorting out and overheating. the fan stickin on is one of the symptoms.

have your vin# ran at your local polaris dealer to see if your bikes is one of the recalls for as he mentioned a bad ecm which makes the fan do that and the hot light stay on even though its not really overheating.
