Default gear case leak 90 scrambler

My son was ridding his 03 90 scrambler and brought it back and i noticed that it was leaking from the gear case. I havent been able to really dig into it but anyone run into this issue or have an idea what it may be? Possibly the seal? It seems to be be leaking right about the bolt where it looks to be drained? Bolt might be lose but like I said havent had a chance to really dig. Thanks!!!

You might want to change fluid and change washer at drain bolt, might be the source of leak? Just dont over tighten bolt!! Good luck OPT

OPT, Thanks for the reply!!! I will try and change the washer, hopefully that is the cause, because I really dont feel like tearing apart the gearcase!!!!

Also there is a little hose at the top of the gear case.... It is above the window where you can see the oil... Is that an over flow hose?

OPT, i pulled the drain bolt and cleaned the bolt and washer. Some oil leaked out when the bolt was pulled, not much however since the quad was tilted back. After putting it back together I started it and let it run for about 5 min or so and lifted the wheels so it could run. I looked at the glass where you can see how much oil is in there and it is at the low line "add". I put all back together and back on the trailer. I have been watching it and it does not appear to be leaking. I am going to put a little oil in before it is ridden but it seems very odd that the amount of oil that leaked would come from the drain bolt?! I will give updates when I ride it.

Default My 2003 Pred90 doesn't have the glass window at all!

We recently purchased a one-owner 2003 Pred90. The service manual says to check the gear case oil level by looking through the "glass window". I can see where the glass would go, but in its place on our rig is a nicely machined brass plug instead. It looks OEM.

Anyone else missing the glass window?

Yours should have a dipstick, not just a fill plug if the sight glass area is blanked out. Seems like every year is different on these little ones!

believe it or not, cleaning the plug and washer seems to have worked. It was ridden a little bit this weekend and no leaks that I can see. Thanks to all!
