Default How to Winterze Arctic Cat 2007 TRV 650

Hi to all. New to this forum.

2 months ago bought an 07 TRV used while in CO.
I have an unheated covered place to store it for the winter while I'm back at home until next summer.

I went to a local ATV dealer to ask about winterizing , and it sounds like the charge will be about $200 total.

I'm pretty handy and can do minor mechanical tasks and am thinking about doing it myself. The temperature here could get as low as 30 below 0 , so I don't want to risk really having major damage.

Is there a link available on what I should do to this ATV so it can survive the winter undamaged ? I did a search on this forum and came up empty.

Thanks for your help !

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

I have an '08 650H1 TRV that I use to push snow. It won't sit like you describe but this is how I'd approach "WINTERIZING"

1. drain the oil and add synthetic - AC's ACX is fine. Run the engine
2. add STAYBIL or AC's FUEL STABILIZER to fuel and let machine run for 20min to get it in/thru the engine/carb.
3. make sure your ANTIFREEZE is good to -40°F & leave your cap loose
4. open your airbox and place moth ***** under the filter

(NOW if your storage shed has power - buy a $20 1.5amp battery maintainer & put it on an $10 outdoor Xmas light timer. I would ALSO go as far as to add an AC in-line hose block htr ($50) and plug it into the same timer.)

5. If you DON'T have pwr - pull the battery! - it will Freeze - AND the 30amp accessory fuse.
6. I'd jack up the machine on blocks - gets pressure off suspention
7. COVER the machine - but wrap the seat in a seperate garbage bag w/moth *****

That should do it. Just remember to:
1. bring your battery back with ya
2. pull the moth ***** outta the air box
3. put the rad cap back on before you ride it!

Good luck!

Cupsz71,
Thanks for the detailed reply.
The AC is now resting for the winter in my friends enclosed garage in CO until next June and we're now back home in AL.
