Default Stupid ATV tricks! (Fun thread)

Following the STUPID Pet tricks thing, I was wondering what stupid
ATV tricks you have done with your Polaris ATV?

(Lets keep this appropriate and in good taste please!)

1) It does NOT have to be accidents (hurtful/gory) but we welcome FOLLY's!
2) It can be install, fabrication or repair oriented. (Like installing a wrong product or
putting it on wrong)
3) Sinking a quad in too DEEP mud, Water, ICE or SNOW. ("I'm stuck and I can't get up!)

Okay okay you all get it!

Cheers,

R'

Well was showing off to my buddies on a week-end trip with the new Polaris (back in 2006) and it was the first time they seen the front storage box on the Polaris line-up they have the older ones , However I braged and told them how GREAT the front storage is and it's water tight.

When we stopped for a pop(maybe water..LOL) I was hitting a water puddle (clean running water) back and forth at about 20-25 miles per hour and when I was done my whole front rack was wet and full of water. LOL....gloves,sweater,papers, maps, first aid,etc....
the force of me hitting the puddle caused the two rubber drain plugs to pop open and the water was forced in........

We all had a good laugh!!........LOL.......

Good one Caper, I got 2 snowy ones, one time I was doing donuts out in a wide open field, and I hit a drift, and bucked my about 10 feet off the left side of my bike, and it just went up on 2 wheels, and then flopped over, but I landed in a 3 foot plus drift, so it didn't hurt, but it was funny

The other was when I was up to the racks, and I was still moving, and then I bumped the run switch off, and I was stuck, so luckily we were at my buddy's right by his barn, and we just used the loader to plow a path through his yard, and then he pulled me out

I'll title this....Runaway ATV!!

While deer hunting last Nov. I decided to head to camp for lunch, finished lunch and it was time to get back to the stand. I went out to the wheeler and hit the start button...click...click...damn! "Well, guess I'll pull start it, no problem."

Rewind a few days to the first real cold snap of the year, 10 degrees...that morning went to start the machine and noticed my throttle was sticking a little..."no problem, I'll get to it after deer season." Figured there was little moisture in the cable.

SO I'm ready to pull start and get back to the stand...key on, kill switch on, choke it. Pull it over and it fires right away, get to the throttle and feather it...get to the choke and feather it...it dies...no problem. So, I choke it again, grap the rope and give her a pull! In an instant my xplorer was riding a wheelie, ghost rider, 3/4 throttle...flying!! The look on my face must have been priceless as that rope disappeared from my hand and it took off, hit my trailer ramp and rode a one wheel wheelie. I'm in the woods, there's trees everywhere, would have been great if there was on a few feet ahead, but no clear sailing for 30 yards, huge pine tree. Hits the tree with the front left, plastic goes flying and machine is still running at 3/4 throttle wedged in a tree. I run up and shut it down and get it back to the trailer.

Turned out while I was feathering the throttle the first time it stuck open, second time she took off! I don't start my machine in gear anymore!!

So, I call my bud in town, "ya busy tonight, I want to take a look at my machine she's pulling to the left a little." He thought maybe a brake was hanging up. I pull up my machine to his garage door, he opens it and we both start laughing...yep, she's pulling to the left alright! A Arm was twisted, both front bumpers, front rack and headlight pod...destroyed. Frame, twisted but straightened with a chain and tel pole. I needed my wheeler for hunting so we removed the a arm and straightend it half azz, duct tape the pod and patch together the front basket and bumper...ran it that way all ice seaon, no problems. She's been running great since, just putting the finishing touches on it, just ordered a pod and she'll be like new again! Quite a bit of damage but amazingly, still ran good.

The look on my face as it took off must have been priceless!

Funny Story wenty, but maybe not? Good thing no one was hurt!

Caper, that is NOT as bad as me too, forgeting those dang gone front boxes
are 100% waterproof, lol. Time and Time again I have clothing or something that
gets wet. Good news is the newer cargo boxes are sealed around the shock caps. NON-removable Vs. our 2006 year models, lol.

Here's one, my wife was loading her SP450 up into the pickup. She has done it several times. This time she put the throttle down a little too much and well you could of guess it, slid too fast down off the wheel wells and tapped the rear cab window. SMASH!

I guess technically that was the first insurance claim I made ATV related, lol..lol

Cheers,

This year is the first time I have ever ridden an atv but i use to mountain bike back in the day so of course on my friends Suzuki ltz400 I found myself putting my foot down to "balance" myself until I ran it over... not sure if that's really a trick but luckily i didn't hurt myself

Then after buying my own scrambler the other weekend I decided to take on a large puddle that I thought I saw my friend ride through. When i hit the water it was to deep for how fast I was going and the atv stopped cold sending me over the handles and into the puddle which apparently was deep enough to completely submerge me. And of course it wasnt the good mud but that black stinky slimy type of mud.

Was fun either way.
I havent been riding long enough to have any real Tricks yet other then maybe fixing my friends handle bars with a screw driver since we didnt have any allen wrenchs on hand... Trail ingenuity

That question brings us to another funny story....

Took all those picks with my old cell phone, must have had 20 good ones of the wheeler from different angles.

While ice fishing last Jan. on lake Mille Lacs my wife called, while in the conversation my bobber went down..."got to go hun, fish on!". Set my phone down quick on the minnow bucket(never do that!) grabbed the rod and played the fish, while in the process of kneeling down to grab the nice walleye of the hole my boot or leg hit the minnow bucket, I heard a splash in the other ice hole! I knew instantly what it was so I jumped across the house and looked down the hole, there goes my phone fluttering side to side as she goes down. I reached down, whole arm to the pit...brrr, that's cold! Just out of reach!! Gone forever.

Kind of a bummer, I had lots of good pics on that phone. But, I learned a lesson...now everytime I take pics be it with the phone or with the camera, they go on the puter and saved to a flash drive right away! I obviously havn't learned the lesson of putting stuff away while in the ice house...I've lost 2 phones, gerber gator, leatherman, fillet knife, more pliers and forceps than I can count, a couple flash lights. Ughh and that's just a start of things I can remember that have been lost down the ice hole!

you kidding, there are 2 many of them to list over the years. lol. did a wheelie w/ the 800 and was a good thing for the rear tube bumper (which now has battle scars) keeping me going completely backwards.
