Default I need some help!!!!

I want to know if anyone has ran into this on their sportsman 500. I have a 97 500 and i need new a new rear drive shaft. will a late model 500 driveshaft fit on the early models? mine has the fat drive shafts that are over 300 bucks,the newer ones are on ebay for 150 for both.....help

do you mean the cv shafts? if so i do beleave they are differnt but would have to check pn#'s. cv's i think will go up to 03' or at leaste to where they did away w/ U joints on the inside.

they changed the drive shafts in 1999..In the 99 models they came out with cv joints on both ends..96,97 and 98 have u-joints on transmisson ends...

I get this question at least once a week! If the yokes arent wallowed out you can replace the crosskits,but yes the complete ones are over $300. And no the newer cv driveshafts wont fit. OPT

ok,thanks.looks like i will order me a complete shaft. the small outer u-joint by the wheel is the one that keeps going out,and its cheaper to order it complete.i hit a tree.driveshafts dont like trees!!!!!
