I am considering buying this bike and the owner is asking $5600 (cdn). The bike is in great shape with only 2400kms (1500 miles), original tires, windshield, and winch. No dents, scratches and original tires. Is this a fair price or should I let it go?

 

If this is the Rancher 400AT (hydrodynamic automatic transmission), pass it up!!! These have a history of problems related to the trans, plus they have a repuatation for being underpowered on the bottom end. If you do a search in here, you will turn up some posts from folks who have had problems....

 

The bike has Fourtrax AT on the side. Could this be the Canadian version of the Rancher? The bike does have a switch manual electric shift or automatic.

That is a "Rancher", in Canada we have them labeled "Fourtrax AT".

That is a little steep in the price, unless it is MINT. I sold a mint 04 with 2000 km for $5000 6 months ago, and it was mint with a winch/windshield/heated grips/full service.

As for the issues with them, I have a 07, with 2000 hard km, and larger tires (25" mud lites), with no issues at all. However, my maintainance is top notch, with only Honda oil and filters (very important with the hydromechanical transmission).

I like the bike, and I don't find it that underpowered, and I used to ride 2-stroke 250R's, so I like my power, it could use more (apparently the 420's have that fixed and can be bought for ~$5500 for a FM (manual shift)). But by no means are they a brute for pulling, or turning 27" mud tires.
