t.o.r.s. system?
#1
On the Blaster, what is the t.o.r.s. system and what is its function? I was told that by unhooking it I may correct the problem I have with my kids Blaster cutting out. Can this system be disconnected without causing damage to anything?
Thanks in advance,

The tors system cuts the power when you give it gas, if you touch the gas at all it will bogg if the TORS is going off, it will only idle. It will not kill the engine it will just bring it down to idle speed. You can test it by following the wires from the thumb throttle to one of the 2 little boxes under the hood, disconnect it and start it up, then you'll see what the tors does.
You say your sons blaster is cutting out? exactly what is hapening?
My blaster would die sometimes in 6th, turned out to be the vent hose on top of the gas tank was way too long and twisted thus after a couple minutes it would choke for gas then stall.. At first I also thought it was the TORS.

mine did the same thing, disconnect the TORS!all you have to do is remove the front hood, now there are 2 black boxes. find the one that has a wire that has a white triange shaped connector. disconnect that and the tors will be shut off

The tors system is designed to kill the ignition if the carbuerator slides were to stick wide open. I am not sure what problem you may be having, but here's an experience I had that may help you.
One day, I was at our ride place and my friends & I had been riding. We took a break and when we were ready to ride again, I fired my banshee up. It idled just fine, but everytime I touched the gas, it would just cut out. If I slammed the throttle open as fast as I could, occassionally it would rev. The problem was that the parking brake wire had malfunctioned. We disconnected the parking brake safety wire underneath the gas tank and then it was fine. That safety wire is there so that when the parking brake is set, it won't rev. I guess that the heat off of my pipes affected it. But like I said, we unplugged it & it has run fine since. It has been unplugged for at least a year and haven't had anything go wrong since.
Good luck,

Just unplugging the one box will set the TORS off, not disconnect it, to totally disconect it I do believe you pull the wires going to the box described before and you also have to disconnect the wires going to the carb.

TORS was a POS design. I had this problem on a 98 banshee a while back. it would just bog down. I put the aftermerket caps on and cut the tors out. Such a waste of time to design this tors system. I also had a blaster carb stick wide open and the tors didnt do a thing. Cut them out
