Occasionally on my 2001 4x4 after idling in Park & shifting into gear, high or reverse I get a grinding type sound (the gears are not engaging). Just wondering if any other Kodiak owner's have experienced this? Fluids are all ok & machine has about 250 miles on it.

I have the 2001 kodiak also and mine works great!!! There are no grinding noises when shifting on mine!! You should have your dealer check that out, maybe needs some adjustment.

Could be idling to high. I have that problem when I have the choke on and I try to shift from park to any gears.

I have had a problem when when it is in park I am alble to move the atv by pushing and pulling. Took it to the dealer and they found a bolt with a rectangle head. They looked thoughout the parts list and could not find where that bolt goes. They found it in the shift linkage. They stated that the shift linkage come already built when they get the machines. Not to sure .. but I have kept the recepts and the bolt for just one of those days when the ATV falls apart on me. I just hope I am not moving when it does.

Your quad is idling to high to go into gear.

They are right - I had the same problem, I had mine for about 2 weeks and had that problem. Took it back to the dealer and they said the idle id to high. They adjusted the carb and I have not had the problem since. Remember though if you have the choke the on and try to put it in gear you will proably see this happening. Good Luck

I just wanted to thank you guys for your input. I thought about it & I am sure that I had my choke in when this problem has occured. I bought the machine in late October, so it has been a little cold since. Thanks again!!
