Question 1997 Sportsman 500

I cant seem to get my quad to fire up. It has fuel and spark but it looks weak. What tests should a guy do or does something just need to be cleaned.

Thanks Devin

did you try changing the plug? is it fouled, wet, dry? is the air filter plugged? just start w/ the basic checks first and go from there.

Behind the recoil is a pulse coil, make sure its face is clean ,its magnetic and picks up lots of crud after awhile. A good sign of it needing to be gaped or cleaned is the ATV will not start with electric start yet starts up with the pull start.

plug is good, air filter is good, but the spark looks weak. I cleaned the pulse coil and the flywheel but its still having a hard time starting. The plug is coming out damp. Maybe its a carburator issue?? Kinda at a stand still at the moment. Any help or suggestons would be great.

Thanks Devin

Never mind it ended up being the spark plug wire was half bad. Put the one off the other quad and runs great. I guess thats why the spark looked so week.
