2002 TRX350FE Clutch Slipping 3rd Gear & Up
#1
I have a TRX350FE with a new clutch that slips when cold from 3rd gear to 5th. It slips in the first two gears but not terribly bad or noticeable. The slippage occurs mostly when cold and subsides as the ATV warms up. The best way to describe the sensation is that of a CVT as it slowly accels/grabs and when throttle is reduced it grabs (harder) than with throttle applied. Originally used Valvoline 10w40 for about 15minutes and thought it was possibly the oil so I changed it out to Honda gn4 10w40. I have a repair manual and have adjusted the clutch adjustment nut/screw per the Honda Manual which seemed to have little effect no matter what the adjustment but is set 1/4 back from first felt resistance currently. ATV shifts in and out of gear fine, idles without movement but slips which becomes readily apparent in the higher gears. I have an identical atv and even when the problem atv warms up it doesn't grab nearly as hard as the other rancher. Any Ideas what to check next??

The clutch cover will have to be taken off and the clutches checked .. The manual clutch will have to have the plates & disks & springs measured , and the centrifugal clutch drum checked for wear and check if it's burnt ..
Myself it sounds more like the centrifugal clutch ..
