Question 2002 Prairie 650 Help ?

I recently bought a 2002 prairie second hand for 2000$ .. just for the record it has 28 inch zillas on it .. anyway . whenever i put it in any gear , it takes a second for it to engage ... and when it does it clunks into gear ... is that common for that quad for that year ? or is it cause the previous ower didn;t replace the clutch springs to heavier duty ones ?

Not sure how a prairie behaves when put in gear but the guy may have left the stock clutching since Zillas are the lightest mud tires out there. Probably the same weight as most 26" tires.

I had 26" Zillas on my first 350 Grizzly with stock clutching without a issue. I,m sure 28" on a 650 is no problem. If you get into a real thick situation you always have low range.

When you shift, does the shifter seem to have a lot of play in it? If so, it might not be fully going into gear and that's why you hear it making a clunking sound. The shift linkage most likely needs adjusted. If that's the case, its a pretty cheap fix.
