Angry 09 Renegade X - Speed Wobble from HELL

I recently put ITP XTR radials on my X, and at 32mph I can barely hang on to the bars. It gets into a wicked speed wobble. When i had the factory setup on, it handled great at any speed.

I also had to put spacers 1" on the front(for clearence).

Has anyone had this problem?

Does anyone know where I went wrong, and where do I start to fix it?

Make the sure the tires are round and have them balanced.

Check the rims to make sure one of them didn't get bent while the new tires were being installed..

I've seen two problems with that situation. One: is that the tire itself is out of round. block up the machine, put it in 4x4 and rev it to where the vibration is. Look at the tire and see if it wabbles from side to side. If it does Take a video and send it to itp and they will replace the tire for free. Two: is the use of wheel spacers. I cant tell you the amount of times I've seen wheel spacers cause this problem. My first set was a cheep set and they were not well machined so there was some slop when installing and caused the tire and wheel to be off center and wabble. Check those two to start.

the smallest amount of dirt or mud behind the spacer will cause them to wobble.. You might want to remove the spacers & see if it still wobbles. I would lift it like Ruddy said & see which tire is wobbling, then remove that spacer & see if it still wobbles.

Sounds like the wheel spacers.

Do a comparison. jack it up and spin the wheels with the tires and rim off the front and watch just the wheel spacer studs. If they aren't spinning true, its the spacer. If they are, put the tires and wheels back on and spin them again. If it wobbles, then its the tires.

check th tow in on youre machine. the can ams come with a slight tow in. with aggressive tires on, it will cause them to grab funny and give the death wobble.

Hate to be bearer of bad news but it's the XTR's, horrible tires. I had the same exact experience on a King Quad 700, then same scenario with ATR's. I will NEVER buy ITP products again, only Maxxis from now on. ITP has an out of round problem, all the balance weights in the world will not help. Sorry for the predicament but your best bet is to never run either of these two tires again.

They do have a bit of a problem, but they are good to work with and the stand behind their product. If it is out of round, they will ship you one at no cost to you. ITP has had problems, but give them the chance to make it right if it is the tire.
