Default Adding EBS to 2007 Sportsman

I own a 2000 Sportsman 500 which has EBS (Engine Braking System). I just bought a new 2007 sportsman 500 which I assumed also had EBS (I thought is was standard). It does not have this. I only use these to clear a steep driveway of snow and I really need EBS. My dealer doesn't seem to think it can be added. Does anyone have info on the adding of EBS?

Thanks

Your dealer is wrong, get an ebs primary and secondary clutch and you now have ebs...

Yes it can be added , when I bought my 08 it came without EBS dealer said he's add it for around $200 . If your dealer don't know it can be added I'd be looking for a new dealer .

Not sure if you would need it that bad for what you will be doing, we have a 1997 SP500 without ebs and after 7000 miles we never really cared. If you put a non ebs sportsman in low range it will feel like it has ebs when going down hills.

We use the brake a little more on the 97 but it has long lasting HD brakes made by EBC which helps alot with brake pad life.

I thought all you needed was the primmary clutch with the one way bearing to get EBS,not change the secondary also?

Any Polaris dealer should be able to order that for you. You'll need a different primary and secondary belt and possibly a belt.

I know a long time ago Polaris use to sell it as a package deal and was a lot cheaper then buying everything seperately. They use to list it in their accessory catalog.

its pretty much like throwing your 500's clutches and belt onthe 700 w/ the weights and springs made for the 700 and away you go. your dealer isn't very good if he doesn't know about the ebs on his bikes he sells.

I will trade you my 2006 SP 800 clutches and belt for your Non-EBS clutches. They have about 500 to 800 miles on them, nice slow trail ride miles.
I have been wanting to convert mine to non EBS for a long time but I have not wanted to spend the $. A trade would be good for both of us.

My cuz with a SP700 (2007) inquired from our dealer about adding it and both the owner and the top mechanic said no problem. I think they quoted him like $500 total for installing it (parts and labor) and then the tech said its easy save yourself the money and add it yourself and gave my cuz a quick run through on what to do for installation.

Regards,

R'
